| Day 0 - Depart Columbus on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 | ||||||||
Day 1 - Nice, France - French Riviera On arrival at the airport, pass through customs and meet your Cosmos Tour Director. In Monte Carlo, enjoy a walk with your Tour Director to see the Prince’s Palace and the Old Town. Time to shop or explore on your own. Later, check into your hotel on the French Riviera. Welcome dinner is included at the hotel. |

Visit the hilltop medieval village of ST. PAUL DE VENCE. Then travel along the Italian Riviera to the Cinque Terre area. Dinner is included at the hotel.

Day 3 Cinque Terre Area Enjoy the visit to CINQUE TERRE, a UNESCO World Heritage site, including a BOAT RIDE (weather permitting). The name dates back to the 15th century and is derived from the five medieval villages along the coast. Overnight in the Cinque Terre area. Dinner is included at the hotel. |

Day 4 - Cinque Terre Area - Alba Area This morning an early hotel departure for the journey to Alba. The small Piedmontese town attracts some of the world's greatest chefs for the ANNUAL WHITE TRUFFLE FESTIVAL, (Fiera del Tartufo Bianco d'Alba). This event is dedicated to the culinary specialties of the Langa and Roero. Enjoy a full day at leisure to join in the festivities and partake of local specialties and wine. Your Tour Director will provide recommendations for local restaurants where you can enjoy dinner independently and possibly try a truffle influenced delicacy. This evening continue to your hotel in the Alba area. |

Day 5 - Alba Area - Parma - Modena - Florence Area Parma is renowned for its cheese and Modena for its balsamic vinegar. On a PRIVATE TOUR of a PARMIGIANO FACTORY and cheese-aging facility, learn about the different stages of making Parmigiano Reggiano, “the king of cheese,” and savor a TASTE of this famed delight. Continue to TERRA DEL TUONO, an acetaia balsamico distillery in Reggio Emilia, and discover how this finest of vinegars is aged to perfection during the included TASTING TOUR and LUNCH. Learn how the distillery’s finished product is used in many ways. Continue to Florence area, where you spend the next three nights. Before checking into your hotel, meet your Local Guide and visit the ACADEMY OF ART to see Michelangelo's "David" . |

Day 6 - Florence Area This Renaissance gem and city of the Medicis will keep you enthralled the entire day. Traffic is banned in part of the historic center so visitors can wander at leisure and admire the city's timeless beauty in relative peace and quiet. Don't miss out on the included walking tour with a Local Guide, which features most of the city highlights. You will see the Piazza Santa Croce; the beautiful Piazza Signoria; the Palazzo Vecchio and its courtyard; the Loggia dei Lanzi; and, to top it all, the Piazza del Duomo and its cathedral with the Giotto Campanile, and the magnificent East Door of the Baptistry known as the "Gate of Paradise." Visit a LEATHER MAKERS FACTORY. Next, travel to Villa Il Poggiale, located 12 miles south of Florence in the village of San Casciano di Pesa, to enjoy a COOKING DEMONSTRATION, which includes dinner. Return to Florence. |
Day 7 - Florence Area - Excursion to San Gimignano & Siena Drive this morning to San Gimignano, one of Tuscany’s greatest attractions. Its medieval squares, town walls, streets, alleyways, and 14 towers make it unique. Your Tour Director will give you time in the town center to browse on your own. Next travel to Siena, for a guided WALKING TOUR, the historic PIAZZO DEL CAMPO and an OLIVE OIL TASTING. On route back to Florence, stop at VERRAZZANO CASTLE to hear about the fine art of famous Chianti. Enjoy a WINE TASTING. Tonight, enjoy a festive PIZZA PARTY at a local restaurant, where and Italian chef demonstrates just how Italian pizzas are made. |

Day 8 - Florence Area - Verona - Venice Visit the romantic city of Verona to see Romeo and Juliet’s balcony and get to know more about this enchanting city on your included guided SIGHTSEEING TOUR. Then enjoy some time in the Piazza del Herbe, before reaching Venice. Dinner is included at a local restaurant. |
Day 9 - Venice Venice is more like a marvelous film set than a real live city, with its criss-crossing canals, gondolas and water buses, arched bridges, palaces, and little quiet piazzas. The included guided SIGHTSEEING TOUR starts with a BOAT RIDE and is followed a visit to ST. MARK'S BASILICA, DOGES PALACE, BRIDGE OF SIGHS. The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore Venice on your own. Tonight, VENETIAN NIGHT OUT and DINNER. Enjoy a motorboat ride along the impressive Giudecca Canal with a commentary of the most important sights. A leisurely walk to St. Mark's Square, passing famous buildings, small bridges and inner canals, will take you to a typical Venetian restaurant for an aperitif before your four-course dinner including wine, mineral water and coffee. |
